ISO (i'm using a Intel Centrino processor), i use 'Infra Recorder' to burn the CD.Ģ: I then got myself a USB hard drive, the type with a USB cable were one end has 1 USB plug, and the other end has 2, the extra plug's to supply power to the hard drive, and formated it in Fedora using the 'GParted' utility, i actually followed these instructions, link below.ģ: Before i used the CloneZilla software, i decided to check for any simple 'user' guides to refer to first, and came up with the link below. ISO i needed, to then make the LiveCD boot disk as my laptop was quite old, for me it came down to choosing the 'Debian' i686. In searching the web, I kept coming across various forums and there threads generally either pointing to 'Acronis TrueImage Backup (Not free)', or CloneZilla as being the most simple to use while still being reliable for a 'newbie' Fedora user like me, so i decided to give CloneZilla a go.ġ: I first had to choose which version of the CloneZilla. If i then needed to 'restore' my laptop, i prosume by firstly using my original 'Fedora 15/Gnome 3 installation CD, and then using the Deja-Dup software and the backup 'folder' i created previously, to 'restore' the computer back the way it was?Īny advice would be very greatful, as i'd really like to be able to do backup a simply as possible. If i did do a backup to a local 'folder' and copied this folder over to any USB storage device, would this folder contain all the contents of my laptop's hard drive, or at-least, all the necessary 'root' OS sytems and settings, file & folders and programs? Will 'Deja-Dup' do the job i'm looking for?, and if backing-up to any kind of USB external HD is not possible, but only to a website storage, or a local folder. So i did some 'Google' searching, and found the info below using the simple backup software 'Deja-Dup'.

I was thinking, that now i would like to 'backup' the entire contents(settings/OS and all) of laptops HD, preferably to an external USB hard drive, i have looked at the 'Clonezilla' LiveCD option, but feel it's still way above my understanding for now. I also have a very limited use of the 'terminal' code.

Hello Members, i'm very much new to the Fedora 15 os, and i'm also using the Gnome 3 shell.
